The Bay County Christian Youth Choir is a non-denominational independent youth choir, and its 31 singers come from over 17 different churches in Bay County representing many different denominations. The students in the choir also represent all 5 area high schools in Bay County. Every year the Youth Choir goes on tour, and this year the tour consists of 12 concerts in Nashville, Tennessee; Indianapolis, Indiana; Zeeland, Michigan; Holland, Michigan; Traverse City, Michigan; Mackinaw Island, Michigan; Cedarville, Michigan; St. Louis, Missouri; Memphis, Tennessee; Columbus, Missouri; Pratville, Alabama; Panama City, Florida.
The choir is made up of students 8th through 12th grade with a few alumni college members serving as singers and chaperones. The choir practices once a week and performs in local churches and for various events in the community.
For its “On Beauty” program, the choir will be focusing on biblical teachings about how God has designed us to pursue and enjoy his beauty so that we might know about his character, attributes and work in the world. The Tour theme will be amplified through narratives and Bible verses that tie the songs together celebrating God’s beauty, the beauty of the church, and the beauty of each other as we reflect God’s beauty to the world. The theme verse is Psalm 27:4, and the representative songs include a variety of styles - Classical: O Lord, our Lord, Your Words Are Glorious (Bach); Hymns: I Sing The Mighty Power of God (Watts); Praise, My Soul, the God of Heaven (Gross) Contemporary: Beautiful Things (Gungor); Immortal, Invisible (Story); All Of Creation (Bannister) My Savior, My God (Shust). Check out the choir at www.baycountychristianyouthchoir.com and on its Facebook page.
Our prayer is that through this experience the members of the choir can grow closer in their walk with God, learn how to use the gifts that He has given them and to have the blessing of being able to minister to other believers and nonbelievers through their travels and concerts.m a paragraph.
